The Workforce Investment Board (WIB) has a 39-member Board ofDirectors, which operates under the guidelines of the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA). The Chairperson of the Board must be a business representative, and the Board must have a majority of business members. This assures that private employers have a strong "voice at the table". The WIB Board of Directors is the policy maker for programs that serve Adults, Youth, and Dislocated Workers (who have lost their jobs due to plant closures or layoffs). The Board is also responsible for overseeing a 23-member collaboration of educational, training, and employment-related entities that operate the Solano Employment Connection (SEC). This is Solano County's One Stop Career Center system. There are two full service Career Centers, located in Fairfield and Vallejo.
For the 2010/11 term, the Board Chairperson is Mr. George Dudikoff of Dudikoff Insurance Company, and the Vice-Chairperson is Mr. Chris Daniels of Travis Credit Union.
