WIB Programs
Find A Job
Career Preparation
The core element of each of the WIB's programs for Job Seekers
is Employability Preparation. We focus on a client's overall
readiness for employment, not just on specific vocational skills.
Our program activities are tied directly to what employers have
said is needed for an individual to compete for a job and to
keep a job.
The WIB administers several programs, all of which have a
specific funding grant, a limited number of allowable enrollments,
and an application process. The application process for each
program requires that applicants meet a specific set of requirements
as defined by the funding grant.
Qualified clients work one-on-one with an Employability Specialist
to develop a Personal Employment Plan. This plan would include
activities such as:

Job Readiness
Employers consistently remind us that they are looking for
more than job skills and experience when hiring new employees.
Employers are looking for people who understand how to operate
in the workplace. The WIB has a special training program for
all enrolled clients designed to identify the skills, behaviors,
and attitudes that contribute to an employee's success in
the workplace. These Job Readiness workshops also provide
special training on how to select the right career for you,
and how to interview for the job.
Keeping
Your Job
Once employed, WIB enrolled clients receive support from a
dedicated staff member who assists you in being successful
on the job. The goal is to help clients establish a solid
foundation upon which to build long-term success on the job.
We provide assistance with any job related challenges that
clients may and encounter. And, we work with clients and employers
to identify career advancement opportunities.

Stories
V.O.
says she's had plenty of jobs over the years, but says
this is the first time that she has a career. Veronica completed
a nine-month training course provided by the WIB, followed by
an externship. She now works as a Medical Assistant. "I
would like to encourage others who are in the midst of a career
transition to have a strong determination to reach your goal.
Have an open mind, a positive attitude and believe that you
can accomplish what you want in life."
When
J.T. was laid off, he heard about the WIB. J.T.
says, from his first visit to the WIB, he was impressed by
the wide range of services that are provided. "Not only
did the WIB give me job information, but I also received help
with my resume. There were also people at the WIB who actually
met with me and guided me toward getting a new job. Having
someone there to work with me was very encouraging."
It wasn't long before Joseph was hired as a Process Operator.
